After taking two losses to the Edmonton Oilers this season, the Chicago Blackhawks shut them out with a big, five goal game. To rub more salt in the wound, the first three goals all came from Jonathan Toews, giving him the Hawks first Hat Trick of the season. On top of that, Patrick Sharp had a Short Handed goal. The Hawks are now 10-9-2.
Nearly 15 minutes into this game, Toews put in his first goal, with assists from Brent Seabrook and Patrick Kane. Before the first period could come to an end, he grabbed his second goal, taking advantage of a Power Play opportunity. Then, only 1:12 into the second period, he got his Hat Trick. Toews scored all three of his goals within a matter of seven minutes.
In the final seconds of the second period, Sharp got his shortie, with an assist from Jake Dowell. Early in the third period, Bryan Bickell put in his fourth goal of the season, capping off the Hawk goals for the night.
Marty Turco got his first Shut Out as a Blackhawk! He may have only seen 18 shots the whole night, but he did a spectacular job stopping them all. He is not 8-5-2 this season.
The Blackhawks get a night off before facing the Calgary Flames this Friday, November 19, at 8:30 P.M. CT.
