Not to down play the rest of the team, because it takes more than a single person to earn a 6-4-1 record, but Patrick Sharp is having an amazing start to this season. The Chicago Blackhawks put up their sixth win on Wednesday, after dropping the two previous games. The Los Angeles Kings definitely kept it a close game until the end, but Sharp’s goal in the final 2:05 put the game away.
Just over five minutes into the game, Jake Dowell grabbed his first goal of the season, with assists from Fernando Pisani and Duncan Keith. Unfortunately, Los Angeles answered right back about four minutes later. Viktor Stalberg gave Chicago the lead again, early in the first period, making that his third goal of the season. The Kings fought tirelessly throughout the remaining 39 minutes, but couldn’t get anything else past Marty Turco. Sharp’s game clincher was his ninth of the season, making him the NHL’s leading scorer.
There may be doubts about Turco, but he definitely played an amazing game against the Kings. 33 saves and only a single goal given up. Five of the Hawks six wins were while he was in net.
The Blachkawks prepare for back to back games this weekend, taking on the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night and the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Friday night’s game will start at 7:30 P.M. CT.
