Rarely do the Chicago Blackhawks match up with the Buffalo Sabres twice in a season, but this year was one of those rare occurrences, and Chicago managed to take both games. Patrick Sharp put in two goals, once again, one of which was the game winning goal, giving the Blackhawks their first win in Chicago. Marian Hossa managed another goal also, keeping him tied for League Points Leader.
Only about six and a half minutes into the game, Sharp gave the Hawks an early lead, but Buffalo answered right back less than 30 seconds later. Then, a few seconds later, the Sabres took the lead, holding it into the second period. Luckily, it only took Hossa about a minute into the second period to tie things up again.
In the final minutes of the period, Buffalo took the lead again, but the Blackhawks still had a final period to recover. Nearly half way through the third period, Dave Bolland netted his first goal of the season off an assist from Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith. A few minutes later, Sharp took advantage of the final second of a Power Play, snagging the game winner.
Marty Turco grabbed his second win as a Blackhawk, making 38 saves against the Sabres. Turco gave up goals in the first two periods, but shut out Buffalo’s 12 shots in the second period.
The Hawks next match will be against the St. Louis Blues this Monday, October 18, at 7:30 P.M. CT. The Blues are the final Division Rival Chicago has yet to play.
