For those of you who are newer to Hockey and are getting worried about the Chicago Blackhawks’ Season…take a deep breath and sit down, because there is no reason to panic, yet. This has only been 2 of 82 games during the Regular Season, and despite receiving a loss in both games, they managed to pull out a point in the first one. Regardless, it would have been very nice to see a Win on the Home Opener…when it was the Banner Raising Night…and it was against the Detroit Red Wings.

Chicago really had a great opportunity against the Red Wings. About half way through the first period, Detroit got up on the board with the first goal of the game. However, in the final three seconds of the period, during a Power Play, Marian Hossa slipped Brent Seabrook a spectacular pass right in front of the net, leading to a tie game. This was Hossa’s second assist for the season, and Seabrook’s first goal.

The Red Wings wasted no time in the second period, netting a goal in the first 1:12. Less than 40 seconds later, Bryan Bickell tied things up again with his second goal of the season. Bickell, who came up to play a few games last season, is one goal away from what he ended up with last season. Unfortunately, during the sixth minute of the third period, Detroit took advantage of a Power Play opportunity and barely slipped the puck under Marty Turco’s legs.

The Blackhawk defense did a much better job at limiting shots this game, holding them off to only 26. 23 of those shots were saved by Turco, but it wasn’t enough to grab the win.

The Blackhawk’s next opponent will be the Buffalo Sabres, with star goalie, Ryan Miller. That will take place this Monday, October 11, at 6:00 P.M. CT.
