Hawks One Game Out from Clinching Round 3

The Chicago Blackhawks are in a spectacular position after defeating the Vancouver Canucks on Friday; a three game winning streak with one more game to finish off the round, and it’s coming back to Chicago. Not to mention, Jonathan Toews pulling out a Hat Trick, to give Chicago their second Hat Trick of the series; Toews had a hand in five of the Hawks seven goals.

Only 18 seconds into this game, Brent Seabrook came out and pounded in an opening goal. However, only a little over a minute later, Vancouver tied things up. Toews grabbed his first goal during a Power Play in the ninth minute, but the Canucks answered right back with a Power Play goal of their own in the final minutes of the period.

Only 27 seconds into the second period, Toews put in his second goal during another Hawks Power Play. It was a night for Power Plays, as Chicago put in two more between the 12th and 16th minute of the period; the first was put in by Patrick Sharp, and the second was Toews Hat Trick goal. Chicago now led 5-2, but the Canucks added one more to their score before the period could expire.

Tomas Kopecky started the scoring off in the third period, getting an assist from his fellow Slovakian, Marian Hossa. With a little over five minute remaining in the game, Vancouver cut the lead down to only two goals, but Dave Bolland’s Empty Netter in the final minute put the game away. The Blackhawks leave Vancouver with two Road Wins.

Despite giving up four goals, Antti Niemi did a spectacular job against the Canucks. 26 saves was what helped put his team two games up in the series. This was the Seventh Playoff Win for the young goalie, and he is now one step closer to playing in the Stanley Cup.

Game 5 will take place this Sunday, May 9, at 7:00 P.M. CT. Chicago has a chance to put this one away back home.
