Hawks Cause a Rumble in San Jose

The Chicago Blackhawks displayed an even more impressive show in Game 2, holding the lead over the San Jose Sharks for just about the entire game. Now, Chicago has stolen both games on the road, putting up their seventh consecutive Road Win, tying the NHL record. In fact, in this Post Season, the Blackhawks are 10-4.

Despite a barrage of goals from San Jose in the opening minutes, the score remained blank until the 12th minute when Andrew Ladd put in his second goal of the Post Season. Dustin Byfuglien deflected in a shot from Patrick Kane in the seventh minute of the second period, giving Chicago a two goal lead, and Buff his sixth goal of the Playoffs. Less than two minutes later, Jonathan Toews sank a Power Play goal to give the Hawks a little breathing room; now, he leads the NHL with 23 points.

During the 11th minute, San Jose put in their first goal during a Power Play of their own. The Hawks did a great job killing the Sharks Power Plays in Game 1, but just couldn’t stop this goal. Troy Brouwer extended the lead again in the sixth minute of the third period, deflecting in a shot from Niklas Hjalmarsson. With under five minutes left in the game, San Jose put in goal two, but it, luckily, wasn’t enough to comeback.

Antti Niemi held the Sharks scoreless for the whole first half of the game, but slightly over the half way point, they finally scored. However, it wasn’t a big deal, because the Finnish Fortress managed to hold San Jose to only two goals. Only 25 saves in this game, but each save extremely important to the Hawks victory. The young goal tender now has ten Playoff victories under his belt.

Game 3 and 4 will be played in Chicago, giving the Hawks the opportunity to be crowned the Western Conference Champs while back home. Game 3 will take place this Friday, May 21, at 7:00 P.M. CT.
