The Chicago Blackhawks have fallen a game behind in the series after taking a loss to the Nashville Predators in the first game in Nashville.  Chicago looked great during the first period, swooping in on the Preds and just barely missing some great shots.  Unfortunately, things took a down turn in the second and third period, and Chicago ended up falling behind.  Now, the earliest the Hawks can win this is by Game 6.

Nashville put in the opening goal during the first 13 minutes of the game.  In the final minutes of the period, Tomas Kopecky tied the game up, seconds into a Hawks Power Play.  The two teams ended the first period tied, 1-1, looking like it was anyone’s game.

Unfortunately, the Predators took advantage of the situation, and took the lead again in the fourth minute of the second period.  Another goal about six minutes later really put Chicago in a slump that they struggled to get out of.  The Blackhawks out shot their opponents in the third period, but the only goal that came out was from Nashville off a successful Penalty Shot.

Antti Niemi received quite a few shots during Game 3, making 31 saves, but allowing four goals.  The young goaltender is playing his heart out, but his opponent on the other end is holding off the Chicago offense.

The Hawks really need to pull out a win in Game 4, otherwise their only hope of advancing will be to Win Games 5, 6, and 7.  Game 4 will be the last one in Nashville before returning to Chicago, and it will take place this Thursday, April 22, at 7:30 P.M. CT.
