Blackhawks Tie Up Series at a Game a Piece

After giving up two goals in the first match, Antti Niemi really stepped up his game and Shut Out the Nashville Predators in the second game of the series.  The two teams each have a win under their belts, and will be heading to Nashville for the next two games.  The Chicago Blackhawks need to pull out at least one of those wins to try and prevent this series going to a Game 7; however, if they can grab a W in both games, then they will have the ability of exiting the first round with their game back in Chicago.

The Blackhawks had a lot of great scoring opportunities in the first period, and a retracted goal, but just couldn’t get up on the board.  Nearly nine minutes into the second period, Dave Bolland took advantage of a Power Play opportunity, giving Chicago the lead.  Then, early in the third period, Patrick Kane took on the Preds goalie while being hassled by a defender, taking an amazing shot and making it a two goal lead for the Hawks.  Chicago kept the pressure on the Predators for the remaining time, walking away with the, much needed, win.

Niemi had 23 saves in this game to give him the first Post Season Win and Shut Out of his NHL career.  Hopefully, the young goaltender can take this accomplishment and use it as momentum during the rest of this series.

Game 3 will take place this Tuesday, April 20, at 8:00 P.M. CT.
