Other than the three Home Runs, RBIs were put up by Marlon Byrd and Derrek Lee. This was Nady’s first Home Run as a Cub, and a second of the season for Baker and Ramirez. More importantly, the Cubs were getting a lot more Hits in this game than they have been in the previous six.
On the Mound:
Ryan Dempster earned the win against the Brewers pitching 6.1 innings before heading to the bench, striking out five batters in the process. Dempster held the Brewers scoreless up to the fourth inning, allowing the Cubs to take the big lead. After giving up the Brewers fifth run, he was switched out with James Russell, who closed out the inning with two Strike Outs. Jeff Samardzija and Carlos Marmol each held the Brewers to no Hits, chalking up the victory for the Cubs.
The Cubs get a day off before facing the Brewers in the second game of the series this Wednesday, April 14. The game will begin at 1:20 P.M. CT.
