The Chicago Cubs fell victim to an onslaught of Home Runs from the Chicago White Sox in their first Spring Training Match Up of the season.  The Cubs trailed the White Sox for the entire game, only grabbing three runs in the third inning.  Luckily, Spring Training is the time to work out all these errors so that when the real Crosstown Classic begins, the Cubs can put up that Win!

The Cubs put up five Home Runs in their Spring Training Opener, but the two games since (Diamondbacks and White Sox) have been without homers.  Kosuke Fukudome and Derrek Lee each had RBIs to bring in Ryan Theriot, Geovany Soto, and Bobby Scales.  Unfortunately, this little spark in the third inning was all the Cubs saw in the game.

On the Mound:

Carlos Silva had a tough two innings, giving up seven hits, six runs, and two of the five Home Runs.  Jeff Kennard didn’t do much better, two of the other homers, along with four hits and four runs.  John Grabow gave up the final Home Run, along with two other runs during his single inning in the game.  Mitch Atkins and Carlos Marmol were the only two Cubs pitchers to not give up any runs, or any hits for that matter.  Each played an inning, with two Strike Outs for Marmol and one for Atkins.

Hopefully, the Cubs will have better luck against the White Sox Tomorrow, March 7.  The grudge match will begin at 2:05 P.M. CT.
