In an almost seamless effort, Team USA defeated Finland, scoring all six of their goals in the first period.  This win has moved the U.S. into the Finals, where they will be facing Canada for the second time this tournament; the winner will receive the Gold.  Patrick Kane, who had a single goal in the Olympics up to this point, scored two against Finland.  Ryan Miller almost had his second consecutive Shut Out, but Finland scored in the final minutes of the game.

Only two minutes into the game, Ryan Malone put the opening goal in, followed by a second goal from Zach Parise about four minutes later.  About two minutes after that, Erik Johnson made it a three goal lead for the U.S.  A little over the ten minute mark, Kane got his first goal, followed by his second, two and a half minutes later.  It was already bad enough for Finland, who had given up five goals in the opening 13 minutes, but only about 15 seconds after Kane’s goal, Paul Stastny made it 6-0.  Finland’s only goal came in the 14th minute of the third period, off a Power Play.

The USA and Canada will face off for the Gold on Sunday, February 28, at 2:15 P.M. CT.
