You couldn’t have asked for a better game for the Gold Medal…maybe a better outcome, but the game was absolutely stellar; Team USA taking the 2010 Olympic Hosts into Overtime. Unfortunately, Canada managed to grab the Gold with an Overtime goal from Sidney Crosby. Now that the Olympics have come to a close, the players will return to their respective NHL teams to go for the Cup.

A little under 13 minutes into the game, Jonathan Toews gave Canada the early lead. During the seventh minute of the second period, Canada made it a two goal lead. It wasn’t looking too good for the US, half way through the game and down by two goals. In the 12th minute of the second period, Ryan Kesler deflected in a great shot by Patrick Kane, making it a close game. Team USA trailed by a single goal until the final seconds of Regulation Time when Zach Parise barely slipped it past the Canadian goalie, sending the game into Overtime; the play, once again, came about from the efforts of Kane.

The two teams played a tough Overtime, going nearly eight minutes in. Unfortunately, during the seventh minute, Crosby put the game winner past Ryan Miller. Miller, the USA’s goalie during the whole tournament, did an amazing job throughout the Olympics.

Great Job to Team USA! Taking the Olympic Hosts into Overtime during the Gold Medal game!
