The Chicago Blackhawks have been the last team in the NHL to not lose three or more consecutive games, but that streak came to an unfortunate end after the Phoenix Coyotes gave them loss number three on Friday night.   The game came down to a Shoot Out, where the Coyotes managed to take the win; however, the Hawks still lead the Central Division with a commanding 13 point lead.  The San Jose Sharks remain the leading team in the Western Conference with 83 points.

Less than five minutes into the game, Colin Fraser put in his second goal of the season off an assist from Duncan Keith.  This was Fraser’s first goal since December 29.  The Blackhawks held the one goal lead until the final minutes of the second period when Phoenix put in a Power Play goal.  A scoreless third period and Over Time sent this game into a Shoot Out.  Jonathan Toews managed to put his shot in, but Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa were unsuccessful; two successful shots by the Coyotes finished the game off.

Despite taking the loss, Cristobal Huet played a great game in the net, only giving up a single goal during Regulation Time.  This was the first game in which Huet gave up under two goals since his Shut Out on the Columbus Blue Jackets back on January 14.  He had a total of 21 saves against the Coyotes.

The Blackhawks next game will take place Tonight, February 6, against the St. Louis Blues.  Chicago currently leads the Blues in their season record, 2-1.  The puck will drop at 7:00 P.M. CT.
