The Chicago Blackhawks fell victim to a two goal deficit early in Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins.  However, they managed to rally against the Winter Classic Champs, resulting in their fifth straight win with a three, or more, goal lead.  The Blackhawks are currently undefeated in 2010, leading the Central Division by five games.

Within the first eight minutes of the game, Boston managed to put two goals in, one being a Power Play goal.  This was the first time in ten games that the Blackhawks gave up two goals before putting in their first goal.  Luckily, nearly 13 minutes into the game, Duncan Keith put in a long shot, setting up the momentum for Chicago’s rally.  Before the period came to an end, Tomas Kopecky tied the game up, off a pass from Colin Fraser.

During the first two minutes of the second period, Andrew Ladd gave the Hawks the lead; standing in front of the net, Ladd found Brent Seabrook’s deflected shot, amongst a crowd of players, and managed to put it in.  At about the half way point of the game, Keith smashed in another long shot, reversing the two goal deficit.  The score remained 4-2 until the final two minutes of the game when Patrick Kane knocked in Troy Brouwer’s pass from behind the net.  Kane has put up at least one point in each of his last ten games.

Cristobal Huet had the night off while Antti Niemi stood between the poles.  Niemi had 19 saves, extending his record to 11-2-1.

The Blackhawks will play their next game against the Wild, this time traveling out to Minnesota.  The game will take place on Saturday, January 9, at 7:00 P.M. CT.  Chicago has currently won their first two games against the Wild, this season.
