The scales were definitely tipped in the Chicago Blackhawk’s favor on Thursday night as they took on the Columbus Blue Jackets, who currently bring up the rear of the Central Division.  This win was important because it allowed the Hawks to grab a final Home victory before finishing out the month on their Road Trip; plus, it maintained Chicago’s record of not losing three consecutive games.   The Blackhawks are the only team in the NHL to hold this accomplishment right now.

Only a minute into the game, Kris Versteeg dropped a smooth pass back to Brian Campbell, who one timed it into the net.  The Blackhawks only remained up by a goal until the final minutes of the second period, when Dustin Byfuglien, out by the boards, smashed in a long shot.  During the sixth minute of the third period, Duncan Keith got his tenth goal of the season; Keith is only three points behind the Defensive Points Leader in the NHL.

Cristobal Huet really came out strong in this game, Shutting Out the Blue Jackets.  Despite only receiving 24 shots, Huet had some amazing saves that really earned the Blackhawks a Shut Out.  Despite the criticism the Chicago goal tending unit receives from time to time, they currently rank of top in the NHL.

The Blackhawks next game will be a rematch against the Blue Jackets; this time, they will be out in Columbus.  The start of Chicago’s Road Trip will begin Saturday, January 16, at 1:00 P.M. CT.
