As expected, the Chicago Blackhawks took down the St. Louis Blues, who are currently one of the lowest ranked teams in the Central Division.   The Blues, debuting their new coach, actually put up a good fight in the first period; however, after that, they began to fall apart.  The Blackhawks record is now 28-10-3, with a total of 59 points.

Only three minutes into the game, Tomas Kopecky got his second goal of the season when he deflected in Brent Seabrook’s shot.  However, only about two minutes later, St. Louis tied the game up.  Less than two minutes after that, Kopecky had another goal, giving him one of his best games as a Blackhawk.  Before the period could come to an end, the Blues tied it up once more.

Early in the second period, Brian Campbell put in a goal from the blue line, giving him his fifth goal of the season.  In the final minute and a half of the period, Kris Versteeg made it a two goal lead for the Hawks.  Patrick Sharp had back to back goals in the third period; his first goals since the final game against the Predators.  During a Power Play, in the final minutes of the game, the Blues scored once more.

Cristobal Huet had 19 saves against the Blues, allowing three goals.  However, one goal was during a Blue’s Power Play, and one of the others was nearly overturned when it looked like the Blue’s player kicked the puck in.

The Blackhawks next game will be Today, January 3, at 6:00 P.M. CT.  They will be taking on the Anaheim Ducks, who are currently the last team in their division.
