As expected, the Chicago Blackhawks did not have any trouble with the St. Louis Blues, who happen to be Division Rivals.  Cristobal Huet got his second Shut Out of the season, Marian Hossa got another goal, and Patrick Kane added three more points to his season record; overall, it was a very good game for Chicago.  The Blackhawks, who have still played two games less than the Nashville Predators, have, once again, pulled ahead as the Central Division Leaders.

In the 14th minute of the first period, Troy Brouwer had the Blackhawks opening goal.  Jonathan Toews gave him a quick pass back, and Brouwer one timed it past a Blue’s defender and the goalie.  This was Brouwer’s first point since Hossa’s debut on November 25.

Only three minutes later, Brian Campbell gave the Blackhawks a two goal lead with a Power Play goal.  Receiving a behind the net pass from Kris Versteeg, Campbell smashed in a long shot.  This was his first goal since the Blackhawk’s second game of the season.

In the final minutes of the second period, Hossa grabbed his fifth goal of the season.  Toews, coming from around the back of the net, gave Hossa a pass directly in front of the net, allowing him to give the Blackhawks their third goal.

Huet had to work for his Shut Out, making 27 saves.  His save percentage is now at 91.3% and continually rising.

The Blackhawks next game will be against the Boston Bruins this Friday, December 18, at 7:30 P.M. CT.  The Bruins are one of the teams playing the Winter Classic this Season, on New Years Day.
