There was much excitement Friday morning when the coach of the Buffalo Sabres announced that their star goalie, who currently has the highest save percentage in the NHL, would not be starting. This seemed like it would mean an easy win for the Chicago Blackhawks, but, unfortunately, that was not the case. The Blackhawks out shot the Sabres, 40-33, but Buffalo still managed to end up on top.

The Hawks had 17 shots in the first period, but couldn’t manage to put anything in, leaving the first period scoreless. Early in the second period, Buffalo had the first goal of the game, off a Power Play. With less than a minute and a half in the period, the Sabres took a two goal lead.

Determined to win, the Blackhawks came out strong in the third period. Patrick Sharp had the Blackhawks first goal, only 30 seconds into the third period. Patrick Kane slipped a pass in front of the net for a quick one timer from Sharp. Unfortunately, even with 15 other shots in the third period, Chicago was unable to get anything else in.

Cristobal Huet did a great job in the net, only giving up two goals, one of which was a Power Play goal. He managed to save 31 shots. Still at a 90.9% Save Percentage, Huet has been doing a spectacular job.

The Blackhawks play again Tomorrow, December 13, against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The game will begin at 6:00 P.M. CT.
