The Chicago Blackhawks have recorded their fourth Shut Out in six games, with half of them against the Detroit Red Wings.  After grabbing another win against their Division Rivals, the Hawks now lead the Central Division four points ahead of the Nashville Predators.  Hopefully, the Blackhawks can keep playing the way they have been, going 7-3 in their last ten games.

21 shots were exchanged during the first period, but neither team put anything in.  Only 30 seconds into the second period, Patrick Kane smashed a shot into the back of the net during a Power Play.  A couple of minutes into the third period, Patrick Sharp gave the Hawks a two goal lead off an assist from Duncan Keith.  The Red Wings fought hard in the final minutes to try and make up for the deficit, but the only person to score was Jonathan Toews.  Despite being out shot, the Blackhawks still managed to pull out the win.

Antti Niemi got his fourth shut out of the season, and his eighth win, meaning half of his wins have been shut outs.  Niemi had 33 saves against the Red Wings, bringing his Save Percentage up to 93.7%.  Needless to say, it was a very good day for him and the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks get the next two days off to celebrate the holiday, but will continue the season in Nashville on December 26, at 7:00 P.M. CT.  The Blackhawks and the Predators, who are also a Division Rival, currently have a split, 2-2 record this season.
