Ted Lilly Undergoes Shoulder Surgery

Written by: EricC on 5th November 2009

The Chicago Cub’s left handed pitcher, Ted Lilly, had surgery on his left shoulder, Tuesday. According to USA Today, the surgeon “performed a washout and clean-up of the shoulder during the one-hour surgery.”

Lilly was initially told that he would not be able to pitch for about four months, which would mean that he’d be back in time for Spring Training. However, no official time of recovery has been released. Reports confirm that Lilly will miss the start of the 2010 season. The surgeon has said that if all goes well, he should be pitching in April. Hopefully, Lilly will return better than ever, ready to pitch a great season for the Cubs.

Last season, Lilly started in 27 games, only giving up 151 hits and 22 Home Runs. He threw 151 Strikeouts during his 12 wins and 9 losses, tying him with Randy Wells for the most Cubs wins in 2009.
