Milton Bradley became the face of Chicago Cubs Controversy at the end of this last season. His unimpressive performance during the season caused him to grow apart from Cubs fans. This led to his negative comments and poor attitude during talks with the media, causing him to get suspended. This seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for Bradley’s Cub career.
However, about two weeks ago, the Cubs signed Rudy Jaramillo, the former hitting coach for the Texas Rangers. This also happened to be Bradley’s former hitting coach when he played on the Rangers, holding a .321 batting average in 2008. So then the gears began to shift a little with the notion that, maybe, bringing in Jaramillo was a better alternative than scrapping the remainder of Bradley’s two year, $20 million contract.
That idea seems to be fleeting a little now with rumors that the Texas Rangers might be interested in taking Bradley back. The 2009 season for the Rangers held 115 fewer runs than the 2008 season, when Bradley was a part of the team. Nothing is certain yet, and no offers have been made, but there is the possibility that Milton Bradley may be heading back to Texas next season.
