Blackhawks Streak Finally Comes to an End

While it is disappointing to know the Chicago Blackhawks winning streak is over, it was great to have experienced an eight game winning streak, with half of those games coming on the road. The Anaheim Ducks were the team to bring the streak to a halt after a shut out in California. However, five games in nine days can really take a toll on you, especially when you have to travel between each game.

The Ducks really limited the Blackhawks shooting in this game, only allowing seven shots in the first period. In the final seconds of the first period, the Ducks put in their first goal during a Power Play. During the seventh minute of the second period, Anaheim got another one, also off of a Power Play. Between the second and third period, Chicago took 21 shots, but could not get any into the back of the net. Half way through the second period, the Ducks took a three goal lead during a….you guessed it…Power Play goal.

It was apparent the Blackhawks were not the same team that had come out and destroyed the San Jose Sharks. It’s ironic that Chicago can take down the NHL leader with three short handed goals one game, and then get shut out by a team with one of the leagues worst records the following game. None the less, there is nothing to worry about with this Blackhawks team, who still lead the Central Division with 34 points.

Cristobal Huet put in a good game, but ended up chalking up his first loss in a while. Despite the three goals that got past him, Huet made 31 saves in the game! This was the highest amount of saves he’s had in a game all season. Needless to say, Huet has really turned his season around.

The Blackhawks have one more opponent left on their Circus Trip. They go up against the Los Angeles Kings Today, November 28 at 9:30 P.M. CT. The Kings currently fall between the Sharks and Ducks in terms of records.
