The Chicago Blackhawks made the Los Angeles King’s journey to the top of the Pacific Division one game longer. Monday night, the Blackhawks delivered a 4-1 loss to the Kings, pushing Chicago back up to the top of the Central Division, tied with Columbus Blue Jackets. This game marked the return of Captain Jonathan Toews and Ben Eager; Toews actually ended up with one of the team’s goals.
Despite an intense first period, with an exchange of 24 shots between both teams, the score was still 0-0. However, only about a minute into the second period, John Madden gave the Hawks the first goal of the game. About half way through the period, the Kings tied it up again, ending the second period 1-1.
The third period is where the Blackhawks really shined, all around. Only about a minute and a half into the period, Troy Brouwer gave Chicago the lead again with a deflection from Patrick Sharp’s shot. Only a few minutes later, Toews put in a great shot after a quick move in front of the goal. What a great way to mark his return to the ice! In the ninth minute, Andrew Ebbett had his first goal as a Blackhawk, deflecting in a high shot from Brian Campbell.
Although Cristobal Huet only had 18 shots on him, he did a great job saving 17 of them. Almost all of his saves were in the first two periods, when they were the most crucial. In the final period, the defense held the Kings to only two shots.
The Chicago Blackhawks face the Colorado Avalanche again this Wednesday, November 11 at 7:30 P.M. CT. The two teams are currently 1-1 this season, both match ups ending in a Shoot Out. Luckily, the Blackhawks will get to take them on at Home, once again.
