The Chicago Blackhawks shut out the Nashville Predators less than a week ago, so the Predators decided to return the favor. Chicago did not come out playing like they have the past two match ups with Nashville this season. Their puck handling was sub-par, their defensive skills were lacking, and they only managed to take 22 shots. This coming from a team that has averaged 33.2 shots per game.
Cristobal Huet has already taken a lot of criticism this season; however, his performance over the last three games, including this one, has been fairly stellar. The only goal Huet gave up in Thursday night’s game came off a Nashville Power Play. The other Nashville goal came off an empty net shot in the final seconds of the game when the Blackhawks pulled Huet to have an extra man on the ice. Over the last three games, Huet has saved 73 shots and only given up two, making his Save Percentage for those three games 97.3%.
Chicago will hopefully see the return of Captain Jonathan Toews for this game. Toews has been out for over a week with a concussion.
