The Chicago Blackhawks currently lead the Central Division with 11 points after adding a fourth game to their winning streak, Thursday night. The Nashville Predators had the support of their fans, but Chicago was able to put them down to rest.
It was an intense first period with the Blackhawks out-shooting the Predators, 12-5, but neither team put anything in. It was early in the second period when Dustin Byfuglien, standing guard by the goal, intercepted a rebound off Brent Seabrook’s shot and put the first goal in. Less than 30 seconds later, Tomas Kopecky, acquired from the Detroit Red Wings with Marian Hossa in the off season, got his first goal as a Blackhawk. Chicago had a two goal lead for a little under a minute when Nashville put in their first goal.
Chicago’s defense really stood strong in the third period, holding the Predators off to two shots, both saved by Huet. About seven minutes into the period, Seabrook gave a pass to Jonathan Toews, who quickly passed if off to Duncan Keith, giving Keith the opportunity to smash it into the back of the net. A truly beautiful play!
Cristobal Huet was back between the poles for this game, and he had his best game of the season, thus far. Looking at the stats, it would seem it was a pretty quiet night for Huet, only making 12 saves, but most of saves were amazing, and very crucial to the Hawk’s victory. Huet is determined to slowly, but surely, win back confidence from Blackhawks fans.
The Chicago Blackhawks go up against the Dallas Stars this Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 P.M. CT.
