What an Amazing Comeback! The biggest comeback in Blackhawks history! Chicago came back from a 5-0 deficit to the Calgary Flames, sent the game into Over Time, and finished it off with a Brent Seabrook, Sudden Death goal.

The Flames scored five goals on the Blackhawks in the first 11:43 of play. Three goals went past Cristobal Huet before Coach Q replaced him with Antti Niemi. Unfortunately, Niemi didn’t seem to start out to great either. Less than five minutes in the game, he gave up the last two goals himself. The only saving grace for the Hawks in the first period was John Madden’s goal in the final minutes of the period.

The second period was where it all turned around. About seven minutes into the period, Patrick Kane put in goal two off a pass from Dave Bolland. Dustin Byfuglien added another Blackhawks goal a few minutes later, assisted by Kane. Chicago was gaining momentum. Less than a minute later, Bolland fought for the puck in front of the goal and managed to get it past the goalie. Now only a goal behind, the Blackhawks were high in spirits.

Only four and a half minutes into the third period, Patrick Sharp tied up the game for the first time! Both teams fought relentlessly for the next fifteen and a half minutes, but neither one was able to put another goal in. The game went into Sudden Death. It only took Brent Seabrook 26 seconds to put the game winning goal in for the Blackhawks!

Between Huet and Niemi, Blackhawks fans weren’t too happy with the Chicago goaltenders in the first period. However, Niemi held the Flames off after he let the first two shots past. Niemi ended the game with 13 saves.

The Blackhawks take on the Edmonton Oilers this Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 P.M. Both teams are currently 3-2.
