Andrew Ladd started this game off with a Huge Hit! Unfortunately, it got him ejected from the game and gave the Canadiens a five minute Power Play, but the Chicago Blackhawks managed to hold them off. The Blackhawks definitely looked like the more dominant team out there Friday night, and in the end it paid off. This is the only game the Blackhawks and Canadiens will play this season.

Kris Versteeg had the first goal of the night coming off a pass from Dave Bolland. The game remained 1-0 until about half way through the second period when Cam Barker came from the back to smash in a pass from Versteeg, only seconds into a Blackhawks Power Play. However, a couple of minutes later, Montreal tied up the score after putting in two, almost, back to back goals.

The game remained tied for a while, almost looking like it was going to get sent into Over Time. With less than five minutes to play, Patrick Sharp capitalized on a pass from Patrick Kane to make the Hawks winning goal. Sharp, who had started the season out on a roll, had his first goal since Game 6.

The Blackhawks defense really did a great job, only allowing 22 shots on Cristobal Huet all night. However, Huet defended between the posts well against Montreal, making 20 saves. He continues to prove to Blackhawks fans why he is Chicago’s Number 1 goalie.

The Blackhawks have almost a week off before playing the Phoenix Coyotes next Thursday, November 5 at 8:00 P.M. CT.
