Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Nashville Predators had their first division match up of the season. The Blackhawks, coming off a two game losing streak, shut out the Predators. This win kept Chicago ahead of the pack in the Central Division.

Both teams came out with about 10 shots in the first period, but neither was able to produce any goals.  About seven minutes into the second period, Dustin Byfuglien got his fifth goal of the season off a rebound from Patrick Kane.  Less than a minute later, Andrew Ladd also made a goal off a rebound from Cam Barker.  The Blackhawks maintained this 2-0 score for the rest of the game, pulling out the win.

Between the poles was Cristobal Huet.  Huet has received a lot of criticism over his performance in the first few games, but he definitely started himself on a path for redemption after this game.  Huet made 27 saves, shutting out the Predators.  Hopefully, Huet can maintain this skill against the rest of the teams he faces.

The Blackhawks will take on Marty Havlat and the Minnesota Wild this Monday, October 26 at 7:00 P.M.  This will be the former forwards first regular season game against the Blackhawks since 2003 when he played for the Ottawa Senators.
