After a close game on Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks tied up the second round series against the Vancouver Canucks with a 6-3 win on Saturday. Even more impressive was that they obtained the win out in Canada. Now the Blackhawks will return home for two games.
After the first period, the Canucks looked like they were going to have another dominating game, going into the second period up 2-0. Half way through the second period, Patrick Sharp added the first goal for Chicago. Only about three minutes later, Sharp added another goal, tying the game up. With a couple minutes to go in the second period, Dave Bolland put the Blackhawks ahead.
Only a little over two minutes into the third period, Ben Eager added another goal to the Blackhawks score, now putting the game at 4-2. Only a few minutes later, Patrick Kane brought the Blackhawk's score up the 5, giving him his fifth goal in the playoffs. With less than three minutes to go, the Canucks made their final goal of the game, but were eventually forced to pull their goalie to beef up their offense. This allowed Dave Bolland to make his second goal of the game into an Empty Net.
Nikolai Khabibulin
only had to make 18 saves in Game 2, but they were crucial saves. Chicago was able to take 31 shots on Vancouver's goalie.
Game 3 will be played this Tuesday, May 5 at 7:00 Central Time. The Blackhawks get to return home for the next two games, where they will be greeted by an arena of dedicated fans.
