The Chicago Blackhawks played with a bit of hesitation against the Vancouver Canucks in the first game of the second round. Regardless, it was only game one and it was an away game for the Blackhawks, so this is only the beginning. Not to mention, the Blackhawks had an amazing comeback.
Going into the third period, the Blackhawks were down 3-0, but they eventually tied the game up. In the first minute of the third period, Patrick Kane added the first goal to Chicago’s score. Less than ten minutes later, Kane added another goal. Now the Blackhawks were only down by one point. With a little over five minutes to go in the game, Dave Bolland tied it up at 3-3. However, the Canucks managed to put the game winning goal in the last two minutes of the game. The fifth and final goal for Vancouver was an Empty Net shot after Chicago pulled out the goalie to gain an offensive advantage. The final score was 5-3.
Nikolai Khabibulin played a tough game against the Canucks. He managed to stop 22 shots. However, some of the blame from the four Cancuck goals can be attributed to the Blackhawk’s defense. Chicago needs to loosen up and play like they were playing against the Flames during the last couple of games.
The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Vancouver Canucks in Game 2 on Saturday, May 2 at 8:00 Central Time. This game will also take place in Canada, but then the following two will be back home in Chicago.
