Jonathan Toews was the man of the night with two goals against the Calgary Flames, one of which was the game winning goal. The Chicago Blackhawks now have two wins against the Calgary Flames in this first round of the playoffs. If they can clinch two more, they will advance to the second round. Their next two games will be played over in Calgary, Canada.
The Blackhawks had a rough start, ending the first period down by two goals. After that point, Nikolai Khabibulin didn't let a single thing past him. Jonathan Toews started the second period off with a goal in the first minute. About half way through the period, Patrick Sharp added the tying goal, making the score 2-2. Then, in the final seconds of the second period, Jonathan Toews put his second goal in, giving the Blackhawks their first lead of the game. After a scoreless third period, the Blackhawks emerged the winners again, 3-2.
Nikolai Khabibulin gave up those two goals in the first period, but then he became a brick wall. He managed to stop 30 goals throughout the game. The Blackhawks have not been in the playoffs since 2002, and they refuse to give up this chance so easily. They have a very well rounded team this year.
The Chicago Blackhawks play their third playoff game against the Calgary Flames this Monday, April 20 at 8:30 Central Time. The Blackhawks will be playing over in Canada.
