Chicago Blackhawks Shut Out Detroit Red Wings

Written by: EricC on 12th April 2009

The Chicago Blackhawks have not only managed to defeat the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in two days, but they shut them out.  This game was the Blackhawks final game of the regular season.  Now the team head to the playoffs to play the Calgary Flames, who have not won a single game against Chicago all season.  These two wins against the Red Wings really didn't matter for the Blackhawk's record, but it helps add credit to their ability because Detroit is in 2nd place in the Western Conference.

Chicago started the game off with two goals in the first period.  Andrew Ladd had the first goal, followed by Jonathan Toews.  The game went scoreless until the third period when David Bolland added a third goal.  The Blackhawks won 3-0.  Nikolai Khabibulin was a wall against the Red Wings, saving 37 shots.  This guy is ready for the playoffs!
