This series between the Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames is about to go into a fifth game, now tied at 2-2. Luckily for the Blackhawks, the game will be played back in Chicago. So far, both teams have won their home games. This was a result of the Blackhawks 6-4 loss to the Flames on Wednesday night.
Patrick Kane, back from his minor injury that caused him to miss the last game, put in his first goal for this playoffs. Only about a minute later, the Flames tied up the game again. The second period was filled with numerous goals for both teams. Within the first minute of the period, Calgary took the lead, followed by two more goals to bring the score to 4-1. It wasn't looking good for Chicago.
However, the Blackhawks refuse to give up, especially that early in the game. Between the 12th minute and the end of the period, the Blackhawks score three goals to re-tie the game. Kris Versteeg, who has just become a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy, started off the comeback. About four minutes later, Cam Barker put another in the back of the net, and a little under four minutes after that, Samuel Pahlsson tied up the game once again at 4-4.
The third period rolled around and the scoring seemed to drop off until about half way through the period. The Flames took the lead again forcing the Blackhawks to give their all to try and tie it up again. Unfortunately, the game came down to the final minute and Chicago traded out their goalie for an extra offense-man. This move resulted in another goal for Calgary into the unguarded net.
Nikolai Khabibulin had a tough second and third period in this game, but it did not down-play all of his amazing saves against the Flames. Khabibulin made 21 saves, most of which were pretty amazing.
The Chicago Blackhawks get a couple days off before playing Game 5 against the Calgary Flames this Saturday, April 25 at 8:00 Central Time. The Blackhawks take the action back home to Chicago for one game.
