Last Wednesday, Rich Harden, back from his recent bout with food poisoning, pitched during the game between the Chicago Cubs and the Oakland Athletics. He managed to strike out four batters during his four innings on the mound. Overall, the Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild “thought he threw the ball well.”
Harden is excited for the new season and confident he has learned to pace himself better so he does not injure himself again. Last year, the pitcher was placed on the disabled list for over a month because of a strained right shoulder. He will have two more Spring starts, one of which will be April 4 at the new Yankee Stadium, which the Cubs will help open.
