Cubs Lose to White Sox By One Point, Two Days In a Row

Written by: EricC on 6th March 2009

The Chicago Cubs met up with their crosstown rivals, the White Sox, for spring games on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  Both days, the Cubs lost by a single point that was put up on the board during the ninth inning.

On Wednesday, the White Sox took an early lead, but the Cubs came back to tie it by the sixth inning.  The eighth inning brought more points for both teams, but ended with the two still tied.  It wasn't until the ninth inning that the Sox put their game winning point on the board.

Mike Fontenot had a good game, scoring two runs for the Cubs.  So Taguchi also contributed to the team with a single hit that brought in two runners.  Ryan Theriot got a hit three of his four times at bat, scoring once and bringing a runner in.

Jeff Samardzija had a rough day, throwing five hits, three runs, and a home run during his three innings on the mound.  Chad Fox had a much better time, only allowing a single hit during his inning on the mound.

Check out the Chicago Cubs tomorrow at 2:05 P.M. as they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
