It was a close game that came down to Over Time, but in the end the Columbus Blue Jackets prevailed over the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-3. The first period was action packed. Dave Bolland started the scoring off with a goal for the Blackhawks in the first minute of play, but the Blue Jackets put a goal in shortly after. By the 12th minute, Columbus had scored again, but Patrick Kane tied up the game with a few minutes left in the period. In the second period, captain Jonathan Toews put the Blackhawks in the lead, but less than a minute later the Blue Jackets tied it, once again. After a scoreless third period, the game was forced to head into Over Time. Within three minutes, Columbus got the puck past Cristobal Huet, ending the game and adding a win to their record.
Cristobal Huet made some amazing saves this game; unfortunately, it was not enough to prevent the Blue Jackets from winning. He had a total of 24 saves throughout the game. Although the Blackhawks were unable to claim a victory, they still received a point for going into Over Time, which was enough to move them past the Vancouver Canucks and up to the 4th spot in the Western Conference.
The Chicago Blackhawks have 13 games left in the season, and as long as they don't go through a really rough patch they will have a spot in the playoffs. Their next game is against the Edmonton Oilers this Friday, March 20 at 7:30 P.M. Central Time.
