It was a dissappointing game for the Chicago Blackhawks, who trailed the Montreal Canadiens for almost the entire game. Montreal put a goal in during the first minute of play, giving them a very early lead. Then in the second period, they put two more in. Halfway through the third period, Patrick Sharp added a point to the Blackhawk's score, preventing a shut-out. However, it did little good because the Canadiens added one more in the final minutes of the game, leaving the score at 4-1.
Cristobal Huet made some great saves for Chicago, but it just wasn't enough to stop Montreal. Overall, Huet had 29 saves.
The Blackhawks managed to maintain their 4th place position in the Western Conference. They are currently a point behind the 3rd place Calgary Flames, but tied in points with the 5th place Vancouver Canucks. Basically, there is a good chance that the Blackhawks will either go up a spot or down a spot after their next match, depending on the outcome.
The Chicago Blackhawks will play their next match against the St. Louis Blues this Wednesday, April 1 at 7:30 Central Time. St. Louis is ranked 8th in the Western Conference so this will hopefully be a victory for the Blackhawks.
