What a game! The Chicago Blackhawks held the lead for pretty much the entire game, starting with goal from Johnathan Toews within the first minute. A couple of minutes later, Duncan Keith put another one into the back of the net. The Kings tried to shorten the gap in score by putting a point up on their side, but then Dustin Byfuglien opened it right back up again. The score was now 3-1.
Then in the final minute of the 1st period, Los Angeles made another, which was deemed a goal after being reviewed by the officials. The Blackhawks goal had been knocked off its mooring before the puck crossed the line, however, it was counted because the officials said that the goal's movement was due to a shove by Martin Havlat.
The game stayed scoreless throughout the 2nd Period and much of the 3rd. It wasn't until the final minute of the 3rd Period that Dave Bolland added a power play goal, clinching the win over the Kings.
Antti Niemi started for the first time in his NHL career. He did a great job, making 22 saves. No news on the return of Nikolai Khabibulin to the net. The Blackhawks record now stands at 35-17, and they are one point behind the Calgary Flames in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks have not gone three games without a win this whole season! Way to go Blackhawks!
