Eamus Catuli!

There are three interesting things about this photo.  Way out on Sheffield Avenue, you can see the Lakeview Baseball Club building and rooftop, with their "Eamus Catuli!" sign and their Division Champs, National League Pennant, and World Series year counter.

Eamus catuli

"I don't get it," you're saying...

"Eamus Catuli" is Latin for "Go Cubs".

And the year counter is "AC" for "Annus Catuli", or "Year of the Cubs".

The "00" after "AC" is the number of years since a Division Championship (the Cubs won the NL Central in 2007), the "62" is the number of years since the Cubs won the National League Pennant and went to the World Series (1945), and the "99" is the number of years since the last Cubs World Series Championship (1908).

The other interesting thing about the photo is the Miller Lite billboard right next door to the Lakeview Baseball Club.  Every home series at Wrigley Field has featured a new little quip of a tag line.  The one in this picture was in honor of the Cubs opponent that day, the Pittsburgh Pirates - "Arrrrrrg".  Earlier in the week for the Cincinnati Reds series, the sign said "Chicago is more of a Blues Town".

When you watch Cubs home games on WGN or Comcast Sports, keep an eye on the billboard for a little chuckle.
